About Eric H. Clayman
From the badge to the bar — and the courtroom advantage that comes with it.
Most defense attorneys have never been on the other side of the table. Eric has. That insider knowledge is the entire edge he brings to your case.
Eric H. Clayman is a criminal defense attorney in Fort Lauderdale, practicing in both State and Federal Court. He began his legal career as a Certified Legal Intern at the Broward County State Attorney's Office, where he learned firsthand how prosecutors build, charge, and pursue criminal cases.
Before law school, Eric was a certified police officer in Hamtramck, Michigan. He worked as a DUI Investigator and a Narcotics Investigator, handled street crimes and auto theft investigations, and served high-risk felony warrants. He graduated from the police academy with top honors in marksmanship, physical fitness, and defensive driving tactics.
On the defense side, Eric has worked in the Broward County Public Defender's Office and the Office of the Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel for the Fourth District, where he handled two felony courtrooms, Drug Court, and the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence and Mental Health Court.
Today he leads the Law Office of Eric H. Clayman, P.A., representing clients charged with everything from second-degree misdemeanors to capital offenses. His office — including his long-time assistant Connie — is known for what shouldn't be rare in this profession but is: returning phone calls, treating clients like people, and showing up ready to fight.
